Orinda School Learning Garden
This Bay Area schoolyard garden was in desperate need of a reenvisioned identity after years of neglect and overgrowth. SHED was brought on board to provide design and project management oversight for the garden's construction.
Featuring a collection of six raised beds (one for each grade level), the garden organization was simplified for ease of use and maintenance. The central feature is a shade structure composed of metal cables which will support four grape vines which will extend from its base and ultimately provide a ceiling to the garden's outdoor learning area.
The design qualifies for National Wildlife Schoolyard Habitat Garden Certification and meets the requirements for the Million Pollinator Garden Challenge.
Client: Glorietta Elementary School Parent's Club in collaboration with the Orinda School District.
