transbay transit center rooftop park
Located 75 feet above San Francisco's streets will be the 5-acre Transbay Transit Center Rooftop Park. The park is the centerpiece of the winning competition entry by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects and PWP Landscape Architecture.
The park will act as a regional destination for visitors to San Francisco and an amenity for the nearby local residents. The park will feature a central plaza, a variety of planted botanical gardens, an amphitheater for performances and a children's playground.
The park plays a pivitol role in the facility's water reuse goals. Rainwater will infiltrate through the park's soil and be collected and reused in the facility. The park will also feature a graywater garden which will filter the facility's graywater prior to its reuse.
Work performed at PWP Landscape Architecture, in collaboration with Pellli Clarke Pelli Architects, Adamson Associates Architects, ARUP, WSP Flack + Kurtz Engineers, Thorton Tomasetti Structural Engineers, Shen Milsom & Wilke, Webcor Builders and URS.
