SHED Landscape Architecture gathers the tools, experience and design-driven vision and delivers them to each of our projects. The nascent beginnings of SHED Landscape Architecture began over 15 years ago in Wurster Hall on the UC Berkeley campus. As classmates in the Master’s of Landscape Architecture program, Jenny Sasson and Daphne Edwards began an apprenticeship in landscape architecture that ultimately led to their first professional collaboration at PWP Landscape Architecture. Jenny elevated to a Partner at PWP and accumulated 11 years of experience leading multiple teams in the design and completion of many complex project including the Salesforce Transit Center Rooftop Park and Streetscape; the Salesforce Tower Plaza; and the redesign of the Parkmerced Housing Project. Daphne led the design vision for many PWP projects, including UT Austin campus and several estate gardens and private residences. Together they bring over 25 years of collective experience to SHED Landscape Architecture.
We believe in simple elegance and memorable design. We believe that more is not more; less is more. We believe in the authenticity of materials, careful craft, and restraint. We are drawn to complex projects where we can forge creative and beautiful solutions that are appropriate to place, function, setting and budget. We resolve contrary and complex landscape issues with a simple palette of materials and clean gestures that deal with scale and composition. We identify what is most essential to the experience of a place and then strive to realize it with simplicity and refinement.
